FosterHealth AI’s HIPAA compliant AI-powered scribe generates fact-checked clinical notes based on conversations between patients and physicians.
Physicians write clinical notes in various formats, depending on their specialty (for example: nuances in oncology are different as compared to gastroenterology), geography (documentation standards in the US are different as compared to India), the Electronic Health Record (EHR) they work with, the case they are handling. To facilitate this workflow, we need a technological infrastructure that generates the clinical notes in the template physician wants. This capability ensures that our application is compatible with all healthcare systems and is interoperable with any EHR.
Our approach
Every healthcare operator should get a smooth, friction-less user-experience every time they use our application to get help with documentation related tasks. To achieve this design goal, we made three design choices:
Technology should fit into user’s workflows, users shouldn’t change their workflows due to technology
Users should have full control over the clinical note’s template
Users should be able to save their custom note templates
In this blog, we describe how our application leverages these principles and helps users generate clinical notes in customizable templates.
Full control over the clinical note’s template
Physicians can define the fields(example: “History of presenting illness”, “Assessment and Plan”) in a note, however they want. There is no limit on the number of fields in a note- it may have one field or ten fields, it is up to the user. Additionally, in our application, there is no limit on the length of the session or the length of transcript or the length of clinical notes. Our speech processing algorithms transcribe all the information discussed during the patient-physician interactions. Our algorithms take care of handling Large Language Models’ specific complexities such as token limits.
Physicians don’t need to worry about fields that are not relevant for a specific physician-patient interaction.Additionally, for a specific transcript, if there are any fields that are not applicable, our algorithms intelligently figure it out and fill the fields that are relevant, based on the information in the transcript. For example, if no tests are described in a session and if the note template has that specific field, our application leaves it blank.
Setting up note-templates is a one time task. Users can define the fields and save the templates during the set up. Users can have as many note-templates as they want. There is no limit on that. Once the setup is complete, users can select the desired note-template and the clinical note will be presented in that template. Additionally, for our enterprise customers, we offer on-boarding service and help in setting up the desired note-templates for the enterprise.
Our goal is to deliver state-of-the-art AI technology in a reliable and trustworthy manner. We are constantly talking to our users, collaborating with leading research institutes and healthcare experts and continually improving our service.
